Enis Arıkan is a well-known Turkish actor and comedian, who has also presented many of the country’s primetime shows.

2021 brought the launch of his own talk show, which is broadcasted weekly on the Exxen digital platform and delivered by Ozkan Productions. Leading innovator, Blackmagic Design has been providing studio solutions for the talk show with the ATEM Constellation 8K ultra HD live production switcher.

Technical specialist, Sinan Sahin explains that the high number of inputs and outputs offered by the ATEM Constellation 8K helped facilitate the production.

“Like many chat shows, the program is made up of lots of short segments; interviews with two or three guests, a music break, clips and short set pieces filmed in different parts of the studio. To give the show pace and depth, we have a six camera package that allows us to create different angles and shots. These feed into the ATEM Constellation, alongside two graphics and two playout channels. We also use seven outputs, including four for recording and one for the PGM mix,” he says.

The program is mixed on an ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel and a series of HyperDeck Studio Pro recorders capture the camera ISO feeds and PGM mix, which are taken out to post production and rendered to a 4K QuickTime format for the digital platform.

“When we designed the show’s technical workflow, our main priority was reliability and continuity, which needed to be mirrored by broadcast grade PGM production. Although we are producing for a digital channel, it was very important for us to match the quality, which audiences in Turkey expect from their terrestrial programming, in particular for shows that Enis has previously presented. We’ve found that the Blackmagic Design infrastructure is not only robust enough to meet that objective, it is also extremely user friendly. At a time where we are still having to maintain social distance between crew members, it simplifies our time on set, knowing that we can simply focus on capturing all of the energy from Enis and his guests,” Sinan added.
